Jane Harmon has been involved with CWENS since 1967, and was one of
the founding board members when Title IX mandated that men be accepted into
the organization in 1976. The meeting to form Lambda Sigma was held at her
house, and the board traveled to Atlanta to begin the process of
transforming the organization. "We were excited about adding the male
component to the group," said Harmon. "It was an amazing year
making sure all of our chapters remained with the national organization. We
lost two chapters
who did not want to add men. Several of us traveled around the country
meeting with chapters and letting them know what ideas we had for Lambda
Sigma."
In 1979, Harmon began the chapter at Georgia Tech to learn first
hand how to work with a group. "It was a very exciting
experience," said Harmon.
For Harmon, one of the best parts of being on the board is working
with the stellar members of the National Board. "We are very
serious about running the organization," she says, "but we
also laugh a lot."

as members of their chapter, whether it is the leadership,
fellowship, or service, it will serve them well beyond their college years.
