Lambda Sigma National Honor Society

Welcome To Lambda Sigma National Honor Society!

Welcome to all of our new Lambda Sigma members joining us for the 2017-2018 academic year!  We are very excited to have you as part of our family, and we look forward to the great things you are going to do on your campus and in your communities this coming year.

By now you have all elected your executive board members for the coming year, and this fall all chapter presidents will be convening in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University to learn more about leading their chapters.  Take a brief moment to watch this video below from two of our former student representatives with tips on getting your year started on the right foot.

Welcome again to Lambda Sigma National Honor Society, and congratulations on joining an elite group of people who can call themselves members of this fantastic organization!

The Diamond, Spring 2017 Edition, Now Available Online

We’re proud to release our new edition of The Diamond for spring 2017, available now online here: The Diamond.  Please feel free to share with your chapters.  Printed copies will be mailed to all advisors for your use and pleasure.  These are great to use at recruiting events to show potential members what Lambda Sigma is all about.  You might also send a copy to colleagues at a school and let them know they should start a Lambda Sigma chapter on their campus, too!

The fall 2017 edition of The Diamond will come out in November.  Do you have an interesting idea for an article?  Is there an extraordinary member you’d like to showcase?  Are you taking a trip abroad this summer and want to tell others about it?  Send your article submissions to and they might make it in the next edition!

Presidents Bond At 2016 Conference in Pittsburgh

With an energetic opening on Friday evening when presidents and board members filled 10,000 food packets for a project, the fall Presidents Conference in Pittsburgh Sept. 23-25 was a dynamic weekend for Lambda Sigma presidents and board members. Under the direction of Tyler Henson , the National Board’s Coordinator of National Conferences and Meetings, and Cheryl Finlay, advisor to Alpha, the host chapter, the group followed up on Saturday with sessions on fundraising, motivation, membership, rituals, recruitment and service projects.

During the conference the presidents elected Lisdy Contreras Giron of Pace University Pleasantville as their new student representative to the National Board. She will serve a two-year term. Tiffany Miller of Middle Tennessee State will complete her two-year term during the upcoming year. The National Board also marked some significant changes in its makeup and future. Barbara Ross, the outgoing Diamond editor, was honored for her 40 years of service with the Jane Price Harmon Gift of Honor, the highest award Lambda Sigma gives. Also, the board also began the process of transitioning to a new board with new responsibilities. John Hauser, current vice-president, was named president-elect. He will succeed Denise Rode who finishes her three-year term as president in 2017. Other board changes will be announced this fall or at the annual summer meeting next year.

In addition to the Gift of Honor to Ross, the Board also recognized Andrew Henley of Westminster, for his service as a student representative. Pi chapter at Auburn was named the Outstanding Chapter for 2015-16 and Beta Gamma at the University of Pikeville was named the Most Improved Chapter for the year. Two Outstanding Advisors were also recognized: Shannon Haick, Beta Eta at NYC and Danielle Fowler, Beta Delta at Middle Tennessee State. At the close of the evening, 24 chapters were recognized as Honor Chapters by the National Board. They are listed on the web site under Awards.

Welcome to the new website!

We are very excited to launch a brand new website in the fall of 2017.  We hope that the new website will be an effective tool for our chapters to use during the year.  We also want to feature what our chapters are doing on their campuses for everyone to see.  Come back soon for the official launch!
